Spunbond Nonwoven Technology

Spunbond nonwovens are produced by applying the principle of chemical fiber spinning: polymers are extruded and drawn to form continuous filaments, which are then laid down to form a web. The resulting fibrous web is subsequently consolidated through self-bonding, thermal bonding, chemical bonding, or mechanical reinforcement to create the final nonwoven fabric. Among spunbond nonwovens, polypropylene spunbond fabrics account for the largest share, typically around 70%, followed by polyester spunbond fabrics at approximately 18%. Other types include nylon spunbond fabrics and smaller quantities of functionalized spunbond fabrics.
