Spunbond nonwoven fabric technology
Spun-bonded nonwovens are made by extruding and stretching polymers to form continuous filaments, which are then laid into a web. The web is then bonded using self-bonding, thermal bonding, chemical bonding, or mechanical reinforcement methods to create the nonwoven fabric. In spun-bonded nonwovens, polypropylene spun-bonded fabrics account for the largest proportion, up to about 70%, followed by polyester spun-bonded fabrics at about 18%, with other spun-bonded fabrics such as nylon and a small amount of functionalized spun-bonded fabrics.
Characteristics of Polypropylene Spun-bonded Fabric:
(1) Polypropylene spun-bonded fabric uses polypropylene resin as its main raw material, with a density of only 0.91, making it lighter than polyester and nylon.
(2) Products of the same basis weight have a thicker and more fluffy structure.
(3) The finished product has a moderate softness and comfortable feel.
(4) Good water repellency and breathability. PP resin is non-absorbent, with zero water absorption, resulting in excellent water repellency. The 100% fiber composition creates a porous structure, resulting in good breathability and a dry fabric surface.
(5) Non-toxic and non-irritating. PP spun-bonded products do not contain other chemical components, are non-toxic, odorless, and do not irritate the skin.
(6) Chemical resistance. PP resin is a chemically inert substance with excellent resistance to chemical erosion, ensuring the product's strength is not affected by erosion.
(7) Good antibacterial properties. It is mildew-resistant and can isolate bacteria and insects present in liquids.
(8) Excellent physical and mechanical properties. The product's strength is superior to that of general staple fiber products, with non-directional strength, meaning similar strength in both warp and weft directions.
(9) Easy processing. PP resin is a thermoplastic resin that can be processed with ordinary sewing machines and high-frequency heat sealing methods.
